I just know that Objective-C is the officially supported language, and I too heard that Java could be ported, but I wasn't sure.

Heads up about iOS development: You have to program in Objective-C, but a licence for $99 just to test on an actual device, and have a Mac to even develop. It does have a simulator if you want to develop without a licence, but you can't release anything.

Android's SDK is free, works with Java, C++, and (maybe) C. And it works on Windows, Mac and Linux. I've done some development myself, but nothing major or released yet.

Great (ish). I accidentally got addicted to Minecraft :P. Then I took Java + Minecraft to make mods, plugins and other whatnot. And I switched to Linux, which led to my inability to hack. However, I think the Linux->Windows emulation is good enough now that I can continue.

Either way, I've just been active elsewhere, but I'm actually looking to returning to ROM hacking or fangames.
