I'd like to hack the Final Fantasy games, not just editing the stats.
I want to make it a new game.

I tried something similar with Final Fantasy II the other night.

It went horribly bad.

But I'll try again in the future :3

You're the exact same as me! FFTA was my first FF game and it doesn't look like too complex of a game engine. A hack of FFTA that changes the story and even adds new classes, weapons, armor, characters, etc. sounds really cool.

I believe Darthatron has a resource on Data Crystal that has a lot of data from FFTA available, and there is a forum dedicated to FFT hacking called Final Fantasy Hacktics.

Also, have you played FFTA2?

There are actually TONS of Final Fantasy hacks, and there are a good few that overhaul the whole game to create a new one. Just on THIS page, there are 30 hacks of just the first Final Fantasy game. I might looking into it.

Also, like Bela said, it would be cool if we had the knowledge and resources to efficiently hack a GameCube game, like Pokémon XD or Colosseum. Paper Mario: TTYD for GC and the original Paper Mario for N64 would be great to hack, but I understand that that's near-impossible. Imagine Nintendo sold fans tools allowing us to alter scripts and events... haha.

I'd actually like to hack Pokemon Colosseum which in theory shouldn't be too hard. Unfortunately it's files tend to use a weird compression that I can't find an algorithm for...

Sadly, most (if not, all) console games use an intricate and unidentifiable compression technique.

I can only imagine the possibilities, though, if that was not the case.

I'd like to disassemble the original Star Wars for the Gameboy to include a few things like saving and a perhaps a points exchange system for weapory rather than picking them up as you go along. That's all a pipe dream of course until I find someone who'd join me on the project as I hate doing hacking alone these days.

I'd like to hack: R&B to X&Y Haha! But, I've had no current interest in hacking Gen III and onwards games..
Maybe, someday I'll create a hack of the 3rd gen. game too.

But, Hacking GB/C games, it's cooler than any other Game hacking! Isn't it?

I would love to hack GSC and, to a lesser extent, RBY. I could probably do it too but I can't really find the drive to dive into learning how to program in their engines.
