im trying to open my pokemon menu on my own rom hack called Pokedrugs: weed version
if i open the pokemon menu, it shows black screen and does a lot of creepy noise

Right, firstly you shouldn't be uploading the .gba file. you should convert it to a .ips or another path format
Secondly, I don't seem to be getting the error you are talking about. using VBA 1.8
