Default Need help with a simple XSE script

So... after one year I'm back to the hacking.
I want to modify a Ruby ROM for doing practice, but I can't create scripts!

I mean... I've wrote an "Hello World" script:
Code:
#dynamic 800000
#org @main
lock
faceplayer
msgbox @ex 0x6
release
end

#org @ex
= Hello World!
But when I'm in the game, if I talk to the person that "contain" my script, nothing happens, I can hear the interaction sound and the person change direction to me, but the box don't appear.

I've tried with a lot of scripts but nothing... also downloading again Advance Map and XSE.

What can I do?

See how existing scripts work, and what you're missing

Although I've never messed with scripting with XSE, I'd say you're missing a byte at the end of "Hello world!" sentence that defines "stop loading text data here". In case you don't have such thing, it would probably try using the bytes following the "!" mark at the end of the sentence for text data as well and well, the game could freeze.

Are you sure you're calling the correct offset?

When inputting a dynamic offset, you must put "0x" before the offset you call. What you wrote was "#dynamic 800000" and really it needed to be "#dynamic 0x800000"
Hope that helped and good luck with the hack!

I've forgotten the 0x while writing the code here.
I've tryed to add:
Code:
callstd 0x4
before the "release" and now everything work, but in all of the scripts that I've seen this command is undeclared...

Anyway problem solved, thanks to all.
