Question Xse Level script help

I'm trying to make a simple give item script where one of the profs aids gives you pokeballs like in the other games but I can't get it to occur only once. If I use a set flag the sprite just disappears but the event still plays. It's one of those you step on to trigger. How can I make it happen only once, and the sprite still be there?

What have you got in the Var number box in A-map
And did you remove the script in the Map header of the lab?

Everything works except what i stated above. And its not really a level script i dont suppose. Im not using the header because everytime i do it that way it acts like a enter on map script, even if i do it with the play back option. What i noticed is, there are multiple scripts on the map, but there can only be one header script? so i just wanting a normal step on this tile, the event happens, then ends, never to be done again.

So I'm not sure what I did, but it's working correctly now. Only happens once. But now I'm trying to get the script to only occur after receiving the pokedex. I know how to do it if you have to speak to the npc, but not for one where you step on the script to activate the event?

Alright, I figured that one out on my own. I used the nop command and a checkflag 0x829 and it worked!
