Here you go.

If you're going to take a look though, should we open a research page?

what i would love to see, is a solid tutorial on inserting custom instruments into the gba games. while we have one, there are 3 problems with it: it didnt explain it clearly enough for me to grasp it, there was nothing on how to properly make the loops in the instrument samples, and a video demonstration would have helped a lot (though if the tutorial has a lot of pictures and detailed instructions, i can follow that just as good)

I have been asked this before in Youtube since I made a video tutorial set for pokemon gen II and general gameboy hacking. I was wondering if a general (and good) rom hacking video tutorial set exists for GBA, and especially gen III pokemon hacking since that's what many people are interested in these days.
I could probably record one (although I couldn't say much for machine language (ARM/Thumb), but I could surely cover all the other stuff!) if that was useful.

Probably a bad time to post this since I just realized I wouldn't have time to start recording anything in a while due to lots of schoolwork. But sometime later it would be a possibility.

Hey, I am trying to hack the music in pokemon fire red. I have the midi file, and I know how to convert it into a .s and how use sappy. My question is how to tell it to loop the part that needs to be looped. Anyone know/can link me to a tutorial please?

If someone could make a tutorial on how to make a ROM Hacking tool in either Java, Visual Basic, or Python I would be most grateful.

I could help you out with Java if you like but what is it that's confusing about it?

You would have to make your own methods for converting between hexadecimal and decimal but that's pretty much it.

It may be a lot simpler to use other programming languages than Java for the job though but I don't have experience with anything other than that myself. I've heard others saying that other programming languages have better support for using binary and such while you can't work out with them with Java that well.

Yeah, I've tried searching on how to make my own tools but I can't ever find a clear answer, so I don't even know where to start. I just know some of the easier platforms people do make tools for ROM Hacking on.

Shiny Quagsire would kill me for saying this... If you're interested in perhaps trying Java, have you considered trying C#? I've heard a lot of people (Full Metal comes to mind) that "C# is Java done right". I've had a lot of success with it and I have no issues with it whatsoever. And it's also pretty easy to pick up on, since it has prebuilt libraries to handle binary data.
