Default Pokemon - Crystal Version (Emu Edition)

By request I made a Emu Edition Crystal version hack...

For those of you that dont know, Emu Edition games were my first attempts at hacking... I started with Red version then went to gold, all I did was place all the pokemon that you could not get into the world as wild pokemon...

so to get a gengar you had to find a wild one... or a wild kabuto...

kinda silly right

anyway, I have learned alot since then and when i was asked to make a Crystal Emu Edition game I figured I would to a better job...

so all of the wild pokemon from GS are placed in their normal area... the atarters from gen 1 and 2 have locations around the 2 regions... the celebi event from the japanese crystal has been repaired to work as normal... all trade evolution pokemon evolve without trade (so no wild kingdras) and lastly the safari zone has been semi restored... giving homes to some pokemon


UPDATE: I have updated this rom to include some rare items that were only available via trade from RBY... things like Light Ball and Twisted Spoon... enjoy

You should restore the PCC and fix a flight bug regarding flying to Goldenrod because of said PCC restoration. (Due to positioning of the door you will land a tile right of the door entrance)

well the PCC was removed completely, so i would have to make a new map, repoint the map and event data to new space so I could add the map and events... all is doable but... kinda a pain...

but ultimately, what is the point. its not like you could trade or access the japanese cellular trade network or anything (even if it were still active)... so remaking that is kinda pointless...

the flight data should be easy tho.

when the game was ported to a US game the GS Ball event was translated, the event existed in US roms as you see it, it was just locked away, I simply unlocked it and altered the nurse text to have a small story instead of a "congradulations for going to nintendos event that you did not really go to because this is a hack" kind of text. it took alot of digging to find all the parts but it wasnt as big as me trying to script such an event.

A ROM Hack called "Crystal Morfeo" was made back in 2009 which restored the PCC completely with english dialogue. The links are long dead but I still have it if you are interested.

I am mainly requesting this because Goldenrod City is my absolute favorite part of the game and I prefer it in its full glory. I've attempted a hack like this in the past and couldn't figure out events for legendaries, etc.

So yes, it is aesthetics. Also I'll PM or VM you the patch when I make it.

On a side note with the proper documentation and skill you could recreate Cerulean Cave.

sure, my biggest issue was repointing the map table... I did not want to do that... but its certainly doable... you would also have to repoint the event data in order to add more legendary battles... other than that the rest is pretty simple stuff... copy and paste any legendary script and change the pokemon data for it

If you weren't adding any other new locations, you could use that unused beta house in Olivine City to make Cerulean Cave. By making the map larger, you could actually draw more than one floor on the same map the way that Victoy Road does. That way you don't have to repoint the map table at all (but you would need to repoint Kanto's wild Pokemon table so you could add a new map entry into it if you wanted it to have random battles). Also I'm not sure if Crystal is the same, but Gold has 1 extra unused map for every Pokemon Center in Kanto. They are duplicates of the upstairs, but the only event is a single warp. It seems like they planned on making each Pokemon Center have a separate map for the upstairs before they went with the current setup that has them all go to the same map in the "SPECIAL" map list.

Also making Mewtwo wouldn't be hard either. You'd just need to have an unused BitNo to assign to him so that he would stay disappeared after the battle. (Otherwise, he would respawn every time you came back to the map).
